Summary:
The Battle of the Fork, which occurred on 11 July 1776, is a relatively little-known but fairly significant event that impacted the frontier of Western North Carolina in the early days of the American Revolution.
While the majority of the colonies were celebrating the passage of the Declaration of Independence just a few days previous, the people along the frontier of North Carolina were in a desperate fight to survive a well-orchestrated attack by Native American forces encouraged by the British.
