“Broken Links in the Chain”
Presented by
Craig Isaacson, NCSSAR Regional Vice President
Summary: Little known battles fought in Western North Carolina in 1780-81 that contributed directly to the Patriot victory at Yorktown in 1781. These 7 battles when brought together contributed to the loss of Ferguson’s troops at Kings’ Mountain, the over-confidence of Tarleton at the Cowpens, Cornwallis’ fateful pursuit of the Patriots in the Race to the Dan, Britains “empty” victory at Guilford Courthouse, and finally, defeat at Yorktown.
Craig S. Isaacson is a 1973 graduate of Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. Graduating with a degree in Education, he began promoting programs for America’s Bi-Centennial in 1976. The great grandson of over 30 Patriots, his family stretches back to America’s origins in the early 1600’s in New England, Virginia, and North Carolina.
Since joining the Sons of the American Revolution (Delaware Crossing Chapter Kansas Society) in 1992 he has been a member of the North Carolina SAR since 2017. In that time, he has served as President of the Blue Ridge Chapter NCSSAR, Mountain Region Vice President NCSSAR, has received the Patriot’s award from NCSSAR, and participated in the Blue Ridge Chapter Color Guard among many other opportunities. To date, he has received credit for 10 additional supplemental patriots.
Craig and his lovely wife Connie (DAR Member) reside near Hendersonville, North Carolina.
