Summary: Santa and Christmas in the 18th century

While in the Army, Randy worked for a couple of different SOF/OGA units. He retired in July 1996.
Loving history, He went to an 18th century Market fair. After leaving that event he was dropped off and walked the Appalachian Trail back to North Carolina. Everything that he carried was period correct for the 18th century. After getting home, he went back to work for the unit that he had retired from. As luck would have it, the unit Command Sergeant Major saw him with his beard and ask (told) him to be Santa for the unit’s Christmas party. “So, I became Santa, which I have been doing since 2000”.

In 2014, Randy was selected to be the National Santa. “I have been all over the world being Santa. Mostly for military bases like, Japan, Germany, Afghanistan, Africa. I am the Santa for the Rotary’s Christmas parade in Fayetteville.”
He moved to Alaska in 2015 and taught Arctic Survival to the military in the winter and Low and High Angle shooting in the summer. While in Alaska he did numerous sled dog races (some as Santa) and was even Santa for the Santa Claus house in North Pole Alaska when their Santa got sick.
In 2019, Randy retired from Civil Service and moved back to North Carolina where he continues to be Santa, mostly for charity and nonprofit organizations and churches.

These Monthly Historical presentations are held at the Morganton Community House located at 120 N. King St, Morganton, North Carolina 28655 and are Free to attend.

There is an Optional Dinner, which costs $20 (cash) per person, presented at the door. If you plan to attend, please notify the CAESAR President, Dr. Tom Lesser, via email, no later than the Friday prior to allow for a proper headcount on the day of event for both seating and meals.

Roasted Turkey Breast, Stuffing/dressing, Cranberry Sauce, Mixed Vegetables, Chocolate Chip cookies
