President
The Chapter President shall preside at all meetings of the Chapter and of the Executive Board. He shall be the chief executive officer of the Chapter. He shall appoint all committees and shall be a member ex-officio of all committees. He shall prepare and distribute an agenda. The President shall serve a two-year term.
1st Vice President
The Chapter 1st Vice President / President Elect shall, in the absence of the President, perform the duties pertaining to that office, and shall perform such duties as may be assigned by the President. He shall serve one two-year term as Vice-President and then will automatically become President, serving a two-year term.
2nd Vice President
The Chapter 2nd Vice President shall, in the absence of the President and 1st Vice President, perform the duties pertaining to that office of President, and shall perform such duties as may be assigned by the President. He shall serve a two-year term. This role will be responsible for securing speakers for the general meeting. There is no limit to the number of terms than a man can serve as Second Vice President.
Secretary
The Chapter Secretary shall keep the minutes of the meetings of the Chapter and of the Executive Board and shall conduct such correspondence as may be requested by the President of required by action of the Chapter or the Executive Board. Minutes shall be distributed to the membership on a timely basis. The Secretary shall perform such duties as may be assigned by the President. He shall serve a one-year term. There is no limit to the number of terms that a man can serve as Secretary.
Treasurer
The Chapter Treasurer shall receive all funds of the Chapter and shall deposit them in a bank account as established by the Executive Board. He shall disburse these funds as directed by the President or the Executive Board. He will also maintain all financial records and update the above four positions (if filled) no less than four (4) times a year on bank balances, income and expenditure records. He shall maintain a current list of members, notifying the State Treasurer of any changes in membership or in the addresses of members. The Treasurer shall perform such duties as may be assigned by the President. He shall serve a one-year term. There is no limit to the number of terms that a man can serve as Treasurer.
Historian
The Chapter Historian shall be responsible for the custody of all Chapter records, and duplicate copies of applications at the direction of the membership. Americanism and Stark Reporting will fall to this person’s completion or oversight and record retention. He shall perform all duties assigned by the President. He shall serve for a one-year term. There is no limit to the number of terms that man can serve as Historian.
Registrar
The Chapter Registrar shall furnish application forms to prospective members and shall see that these forms are properly prepared, and the necessary proofs attached before submitting the papers to the NC Society. He shall be custodian to the Chapter copies of the member’s applications. He shall maintain a record of all past and present members of the Chapter, indicating when and how membership was attained and when and how membership was terminated. The Registrar shall perform such duties as may be assigned by the President. He shall serve a one-year term. There is no limit to the number of terms that a man can serve as Registrar.
Assistant Registrar
Under the direction of the Chapter Registrar, the Asst Registrar shall assist the Registrar in the performance of the Registrar’s duties. He shall perform all duties assigned by the Registrar or President. He shall serve for a one-year term. There is no limit to the number of terms that man can serve as Registrar or Asst. Registrar.
Genealogist
The Genealogist is responsible for verifying applications for membership by ensuring applicants provide evidence of lineage to a Revolutionary War ancestor, adhering to SAR policies and procedures. He shall perform all duties assigned by the President. He shall serve for a one-year term. There is no limit to the number of terms that man can serve as Genealogist.
Sergeant of Arms
The Sergeant-at-Arms shall be responsible for the maintenance of order at all meetings of the Chapter, subject to the instructions of the President, for the maintenance and placement of all flags at ceremonies for which the Chapter colors are requested and approved. He shall perform all duties assigned by the President. He shall serve for a one-year term. There is no limit to the number of terms that man can serve as Sergeant-at-Arms.
Chaplain
The Chapter Chaplain shall open and close all meetings of the Chapter with an invocation or devotional guidance as are usual and proper on such occasions. He shall preside at appropriate Memorial Services for departed Compatriots and participate with invocations in other public functions which the Chapter is responsible. He shall perform all duties assigned by the President. He shall serve for a one-year term. There is no limit to the number of terms that man can serve as Chaplin.
Color Guard Commander
The Chapter Color Guard Commander is responsible for commemorations and events, ensures sufficient number of flags, flag bearers, and riflemen escorts, inspects uniforms, flags, weapons, and equipment of Guardsmen, conducts safety inspection and checks before any ceremony where weapons will be discharged, and issues commands during ceremonies. The Color Guard Commander shall perform all duties assigned by the President. He shall serve for a one-year term. There is no limit to the number of terms that man can serve as Color Guard Commander.
Deputy Color Guard Commander
Under the direction of the Chapter Color Guard Commander, the Chapter Deputy Color Guard Commander shall assist the Registrar in the performance of the Color Guard Commander’s duties. He shall perform all duties assigned by the Color Guard Commander or President. He shall serve for a one-year term. There is no limit to the number of terms that man can serve as Deputy Color Guard Commander.
